Wednesday evening the New York Knicks announced that guard Derrick Rose had successfully undergone surgery on his injured right ankle.
Rose suffered the injury December 16 against the Houston Rockets and it also sidelined him for the club’s next two ballgames. Thought the initial announcement has him out at least eight weeks, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski there is hope that the former league MVP could be back closer to six weeks.
On the season, Rose has been averaging 12.0 points, 4 assists and 3 rebounds in 24.5 minutes of action.
With his absence, Kemba Walker, who was was on the path of being a forgotten man, after being taken out of the rotation by head coach Tom Thibodeau, could see more, or any action. Rose being unavailable should also pave the way for more run for young lion Immanuel Quickley.
